Category Archives: weekends in Tokyo
There is all types of guides where to go when you are in Japan, but why not listen to someone that is more like you, that has lived there twice and know her way around?
Let’s travel StreetGyaru wise
First of all: Tokyo has about 130 million people so NO there is not “one” city in this over-the-top-huge city!
In Tokyo you should try and book a hotel/motel/holiday in around the
JR Yamanote Line
This line is like a cirkel that takes you to a bunch of the very best sightseeing in Tokyo!
Buy a SUICA card for a better Japanese and StreetGyaru way which means you just follow the flow with people BUT you can use different ways of keeping your card at hands. Me, I have a Penguin from 6%DOKIDOKI
On the Yamanote Line you have:
Shibuya – walk up Hachiko Exit and you will step out to the bussiest intersektion in the world, which might feel overly crowded but if you cross the intersektion (and yes, pick up your camera and film/take photo of this “real” StreetGyaru Tokyo!
For the best view, take a latte at Starbucks on the second floor of Tsutaya
More StreetGyaru guidlines will come!
I will admit, I kind of thought we would miss the cherryblossom in Tokyo this time! But we didnt!
Spring is My fav month and the place to be, for me, is Tokyo!!
Not just because the weather is nice or that I love Tokyo in general, but if you have witness sakura さくら (cherryblossom) in its full bloom you just have to come back, no matter what!
AND everyone gets so happy and all over the parks people gather under the trees having おはなみparty!! (o^^o)
That means wieving cherryblossoms while having picnic under the trees!
Drinking, eating obentos (lunchboxes) and small snacks together is an everyday festive event with friends during a weeks period of time when the blossoms are in full bloom.
This time we went up to Nikko for a days trip.
Its just beautiful and so peaceful and you walk around in the woods, wathching the worlds heritage of shrines and temples from the Nara and Edo periode, all embedded in nature with redwood trees reaching to the sky surrounding them!
And the 2h trip up there, you can see …
Im in love with Japan!♡
Ok, here I am.. Still in Sweden, Norrköping, where spring is fighting to get out everyday! Yesterday it was freezing, no kidding, when I went to work but the sun made its shine break through and warm up this frozen city about lunchtime!
Anywho, you know where I’d like to spend Springtime???
Take a wild guess! Come on..
YES! Tokyo IS the correct answer and the winner is ME!!!
The countdown seemes forever long but today, today its 24 days left until I jump on that flight that brings me back to wonderland!
Im just so happy nothing more has happend i Japan, though about a year ago EVERYTHING happend.
I miss My friends and the beauty they bring! Like Aliceandthecat
I ♡ her art!!
Im sorry Im writing this so late, but I need to tell you about my last weekend in Tokyo before reality and my trip back to Sweden takes ahold of me. The picture above is from my Sayonara party! I had it together with my darling friend Bameis birthday party.
A funny note; tanyoubi, which means birthday in japanse has a funny meaning, which ofcourse is congratulations for being born BUT also sayonara because you get departured from your mother. SO, this collaboration of Birthday party and Sayonara party went under the name TANYOUBI PARTY! ❤
then we ended up at HEARTLAND around 11pm
(which is a place for gaijins, that means loud drunk forigners that wants to score with Japanese girls)
then fast away to another bar I don´t remember the name of until 2.30am
and then to Shimokitazawa to a very small, gorgeous, wonderful little sidewalk izakaya where we hanged out until 5am and my first morning train went back home to Komazawa.
A SUGOI evening/night/morning with wonderful friends!
I slept 3 hours and then up and away to Shinjuku for photoshoot with NANA EMMA that studies fashion design, and I got to wear clothes from VIVIENNE WESTWOOD! Do you know the manga/anime NANA? I wear the same jacket as her! So awesome! (^ ^)
What a surreal day!
Then studygroup in Shimokita at my friend Sams place and then VIP-party at Roppongi Hills at Grand Hyatt.
Tokyo International Film Festival was this week and I was invited of my former workplace ShortShorts Film Festival
to celebrate this amazing animator and the Animations made out of his short stories and life,
I ❤ TOKYO!
I told you right, that I spent my hole weekend in Harajuku at La Foret.. because there is FASHION WEEK here! ❤
So much and just soo little money.. so much time and soo much great stuff and its an autumf fair now in this great departmentstore with 5 floor with sugoi fashion! I almost bought this super expensive legwrmers (?) just because this gorgeous japanese salesgirl was talking to me and we had a conversation all in Japanese and she was just so sweet and said my nihongo was great 😉
But no, I didnt in the end, thank god though I just cant afford it to be honest!
Well, I saw two fashionshows and alot of crazy things these days and just had a blast! Then I´ve tried to have a relaxed week (not study though, I study more intense then ever) but moneywise! I cook (?) more in the guesthouse now and that is good.. well the food isnt really oishii (delicious) but its good not to eat out all the time ne! 😉
Yesterday (Thursday) I went to a concert with Bamei, my Thaiwanese friend, and it was great! The live-house was really similary to my work but the stage was bigger and ALOT more lights and better soundsystem;) It was Takeshi birthday so in the end of the gig, when he had left the stage, we took out glowsticks and started screaming ” Ta.ke.shi”! Finally he came back in and everybody at the audience (300-400 people) was singing Happy Birthday and waved their glowing stick:) Awesome ❤
Here are some pics from my week here!
I havnt been good updating you on what is happening here, but its mostly study study study!
But this friday-sunday I have a holiday and what is excellent is that its FASHION WEEK!
La Foret, a huge departmentstore in Harajuku, has a Fashion Week that ends this weekend!
I went there on Friday and yesterday (Saturday) and today I will just leave soon to go there again!
LaForet Museum (up on the 6th floor) has a venue that alot of different shops, companies, artfairs is holding exibition and stuff, and for this week there is Autumn Fairs and markets up there together with a stage and yesterday there was a live interview with Kyari Pamyu Pamyu who is a fashion blogger in Japan and super kawaii! I know her from before and Facebook and also because Sebastian Masuda, the owner of
6%DOKIDOKI, has helped direct and style her musicvideo PONPONPON.
I acctually understood alot of the interview which Im very happy about! My japanese lessons are really paying of:)
After that, and alot of japanese girls screaming KAWAII ❤ there was a fashionshow and allthese super sweet girls that are photomodells in alot of fashion magazines in Japan where entering the stage and walked the catwalk that was just on the floor dividing the crowd of wxcited teen-japanese girls screaming!
After that crazy experience there was a concert and what can I say! I love my weekends in Tokyo!
Now I need to hurry to Harajuku because n.Nauto will have a fashionshow which I would LOVE to see! And also its the last day of fashion week so I need to look aroun and MAYBE get something 😉
My sunday was so nice! Nishiyobi wa sugoi desu! Daisuki desu!
First, Daikanyama! A beautiful little district on Tokuyu Toyoko Line from Shibuya and its only one stop with the local train! Its such a beautiful place to walk around in with small shops and coffe places and restaurants!
I met my dear friend Eri there and we ate pasta at a cute little place.
After that we just walked around and I found this gorgeous store with
After that I went back to Komazawa (where I live) to meet up with my darling Bamei and we went to Meguro (2 stops from Shibuya) and met a friend of hers that invited us to have dinner with him at a restaurant with delicious food! My japanese got tested today though I had to speak more to bamei and her friend which english is good but not comes as naturel as japanese. After dinner we went to a place where we ended up at the 25th floor at this little room with the most fantastic view over tokyo tower
and after a while the room was filled with 30 guests that was invited to this privat concert of furusawa takeshi.
Its a friend of Bamei that sings and playes guitar and he has a big concert coming up in Harajuku in the end of September. He had a great voice and Im so happy that I could be a part of this event as the only european there 🙂
After this great event we went to Roppongi and sat at a bar to look at people and then we went back home after a gorgeous Sunday in Tokyo!
I just can´t tell you how much I loved this weeken, except from getting a toung infection so I had to take out my sweet piercing since 10 years back!
I have just studied my sweet behind of and litterally beat my self up for this test in school just to find out the test itself isnt that hard, so this weekend was really something I was looking forward to!
Friday, of with friends eating mexican food that was yummy! Then Harajuku where they had a sale of 83%.. have you ever experienced ANYTHING beeing 83% off? I hadnt so I just HAD to find this store, and so I did and I bought alot of stuff which I will sell to you back home in sweden (*^ ^*)
But if that day gave me a thrill, it was nothing compared to my saturday which took me back to Kamakura and finally the beach!
They said that this weekend is kind of the last summer-going to autumn one so If I wanted to be able to swim in the great pacific this was it!
For you that wants to take this trip (and you do) just start from:
Shibuya – Yokohama (Tokuyu Toyoko Line) around 20min
Yokohama – Kamakura (JR Yokosuka Line) aprox 30 min
The ticket for one way is about 650Yen.
When you hit kamakura, get a One day free ticket for 580Yen and you jump on to Enoden electric railway that is a really small local train that takes you to Fujisawa and between you can jump on and of this ride at all these stops which have the great Buddha (Hase), and alot of hidden temples and the train takes you just along the shore and beach that goes all the way to Enoshima where you can see alot of surfers (yummy) and also walk over the bridge to Enoshima Island which is a paradise on earth! There you can walk on old staircases carved out in rocks all the way up to the top of the island that has a park and a watch tower. If you feel abit tired, just pay a small fee and take escalaters all the way up, but I suggest you walk bcos then and only then you really can see the magnificant view and all the neko (cats) that lay around everywhere looking all cute and relaxed in the sun!
And to swim in the waves of the pacific ocean..I can almost feel tears burning just talking about it! The view and the beach and the people! Ureshii! (so happy!) ❤
This is a days trip everyone should do visiting Tokyo for more than a week!
I had the chanse to try out my japanese bikini to which made me so frickin HOT ❤ (*^-^*)/ but now its all sandy AND because I choose a part of the beach which has blck sand (kawaii) I have black sand all over and in it now that wont come out. But hey, who cares right! Im living a tokyo-white life here and pimped my keitai all tokyo-white with things bought in Kamakura!
